Kris ( "PuK") Johnson originates from Hull and in the early 80s was heavily involved with the American car scene being an active member of “The Wanderer’s” also designing building and painting show stands and creating show cards for club members .He studied Art at Hull College of Art and specialised in Exhibition Design . Kris was one of the earlier members of the newly re-opened Ace Cafe . Kris’s first yank tank was a 71 Plymouth Fury which he completely restored. Various vehicles followed but he is now resigned to driving a Ford Transit to facilitate the requirements of a gruelling show schedule, which usually includes more than 20 shows between April and September of ech year. Kris took a break from the scene in the 90’s transferring his skills to the domestic craft market. He now lives in Leicester and travels extensively. Have brush will travel!
Following an
inspirational 2000 mile road trip from LA to Austin Texas in Spring 2003
(which included the renowned Route 66),
Kris has now been fully re-inspired and has sharpened his striping brushes and is
raring to go. He has also recently visited the fabulous Petersen
Automotive Museum in LA and the National
Hot Rod Museum in Pomona where he witnessed a 400 strong
street legal hot rod meet! Next
trip hopefully will include the Lonestar Roundup in Austin Texas in March of
this year.
There is very little that Kris cannot detail and you don’t have to have A Classic American either. Kris will pin strip almost anything with original freehand art whether your toy has 2 wheels or 4!
Kris has been personally featured in magazines since 1985 including the prestigious pinstriping magazine of America - Auto Art
His latest escapade was striping a 59 Anglia for MTV's Pimp my Ride (UK) due to be aired on 17th September 2006. and Custom Choppers for Men & Motos in June 2007
